Iskandar Puteri, March 23, 2023: The 2023 First Class Friendly match between Malaysia and Turkmenistan took place here last night. Although this match took place on the first day of fasting, it did not stop Malaysian fans from coming to the stadium.

It may be a revenge mission for the defeat during the Asian Cup 2023 qualification match 9 months ago which ended Malaysia (3) – (1) Turkmenistan but Orazov Mergen's men showed a positive fight back. Malaysia was almost alarmed when the clash between Syihan Hazmi and Mingazov Ruslan caused Syihan to lie down and require treatment. Dion Cools almost got the early goal from a free kick outside the penalty area but was pushed out by Charyyev Rasul. The Malaysian camp was happy when Endrick Dos Santos' pass was successfully carried to the left of the Turkmenistan goal and then Akhyar Rashid managed to shoot hard at the Turkmenistan goal beating Charyyev Rasul. Paulo Josue's shot in the last minute of the first half failed to hit the goal.

An attempt in the 61st minute by Faisal Halim failed to hit the target and in the 71st minute another attempt by Faisal Halim was saved twice by Charyvev Rasul. In the 81st minute Syihan Hazmi made a mistake when his throw was intercepted by Amanov Arslanmyrat and then tried to shoot from outside the penalty area but was deflected by Syihan and the throw from the side was again shot hard by the Turkmen attacker and managed to be deflected again by Syihan. An additional 4 minutes by referee Ahmad A'qashah from Singapore did not change the outcome of the match. Malaysia will visit Hong Kong on March 28, 2023.
