PENANG FC FAILED TO STOP JOHOR DARUL TA'ZIM'S RAMPAGE

Iskandar Puteri, May 28th, 2023: The 2023 FA Cup Quarter-Final action continues again and finds defending champions Johor Darul Ta'zim hosting Penang FC at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium. Esteban Solari did not field the starting line-up in this match and gave space to other players to perform.

Penang FC showed a positive game which also launched several attacks on the goal of Johor Darul Ta'zim. In the 18th minute, Juan Muniz almost scored an early goal through a shot outside the penalty area but managed to be denied by Azfar Arif and failed to be grabbed by Forestieri. Shortly after that, in the 20th minute, a shot from outside the penalty area by Fernando Forestieri missed the Penang FC goal. Diogo Santos finally managed to shake the goal of Penang FC when Corbin Ong's cross at the corner by Forestieri only hit the post and was headed into his own goal by Ousmane in the 31st minute. JDT continued to attack the Penang FC goal after that and the team captain, Jordi Amat managed to score a goal after there was confusion in front of the Penang FC goal in the 37th minute.

JDT was awarded a penalty kick in the 47th minute when the ball hit the hands of a Penang FC defender in the penalty area and Arif Aiman โ€‹โ€‹had no problem finishing it. Corbin Ong became the fourth player to mark his name as a mini mala goal scorer when the ball deflected straight to his feet and calmly deflected into the Penang FC goal. Fiber player Syafiq Ahmad did not disappoint Esteban Solari's faith when he managed to score the last goal in the 91st minute after receiving a long pass from Juan Muniz.

JDT will clash with Selangor FC in the semi-final of the FA Cup on 26 June 2023 at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.
