Kuching City FC No Match For The Red Giants
3 March, KUCHING: Liga Super newcomer, Kuching City FC was outplayed 0-5 by Selangor FC in their second match of the Liga Super Malaysia 2023 at Stadium Negeri, Kuching. Despite playing at home with 13,000 voracious home fans supporting, the home side was simply outclassed by the much more superior visitors.
From the start of the whistle, Selangor FC controlled the game with slick passes and beautiful interchange and it took them only 4 minutes to started the ball rolling with a goal from their Jordanian import Noor Al-Rawabdeh after connecting a pass from his teammate in the penalty box. Kuching City FC did an immediate response a minute later through captain, Muhd Adam Shreen Tambi but his shot hit the goal post much to the relief of Selangor FC head coach, Tan Cheng Hoe.
A mistake by Kuching City FC in the 8 minutes proved costly as Selangor FC took the opportunity to notch their second goal with Colombian striker, Ayron del Valle making a simple tap-in to put the visitors two goals ahead. The visitors remain dominant but failed to capitalise on a few chances coming in their way until the half time whistle was blown.
Selangor FC continue their dominance right from the second half whistle and in the 48 minutes, Noor Al-Rawabdeh scored his second goal of the night after a good build up to put the visitors three goals ahead much to the dismay of Kuching City FC head coach, Irfan Bakti. The home team made a few changes trying to revive the match but it proved fruitless as The Red Giants was on form by restricting them to only a few chances. In the 65 minutes the visitors add another goal through skipper, Brendan Gan after a loose ball in the penalty box leaving Kuching City FC keeper, Nor Azlan Razali helpless.
In the 73 minutes, Selangor FC substitute player Danial Asri scored the visitors fifth goal after a goalmouth melee with Kuching City FC defenders only stood by ball watching.
The home side did a few attempts in search for goals but was easily thwarted by the visitors, much to the disappointment of the partisan home crowd and the scoreline remain until the final whistle was blown by referee Noor Azriel Bin Baharudin with the Red Giants bringing home the full points.
